As another said, take walks. Do seemingly harmless activities but actually work on your tulpa.

A popular method of forcing is narration, where you interract with your tulpa even while doing other activities anyway.

And in my opinion, basing them off of a character is probably fine, but ultimately meaningless. As soon as they are able to choose, you should let them change their form.

I never chose to give my tulpa a form, as it seemed unecessary, but she selected one for herself anyway, and that form appears in my head while I think of her sometimes. It's all very subjective and fluid, in my experience.
But which element should I start with first? Many say that your tulpa chooses a form so could I make the voice, then scent, then the tulpa can choose it's form then I can work on physical contact?
I feel like I’m not giving enough attention to my Tulpa.
I don’t really do much active forcing honestly. I might do it for like 5-10 minutes but if anything she’s just in my head and I think of her
Ive heard some people say that possesion isn't possible for them and no matter how hard them and their tulpa have tried it doesn't work but I've also heard it's something harder to learn
Ah, and one thing I would like another opinion on is what was easier to help create your tulpas? Having conversations out loud or having mental conversation?
There was this article that says nothing as helpful as you guys, it said the first step was imagining your tulpa naked so you can make it's form right away
FAQ's guide still has some useful content (I still link the personality trait template now and again) but yeah, his and most of the other older guides are largely outdated. That's why they're under the 'old guides' tab on the homepage of .info with a warning.
@AwfulLottaAwfulThings read as many guides as you can, ask for our help, and ultimately do what feels right. The tulpa creation process is very subjective.
@Smeer Thank you. I just prefer talking to someone who has experience and currently interacts with their tulpa rather than online lists. It feels more accurate
A problem I find with making my tulpa is that no matter how long I talk to my tulpa mentally, that's all I can really do. I can't see them nor hear them, I can only imagine responses. I've "talked" to them for an hour a day for a month and no progress has been seen
Maybe 1 hour a day isn't enough. Mine was brought on by basically fantasizing about hanging out and doing things with a character about 6 hours a day for 2 weeks straight while at work. I was doing welding which was insanely dull and boring I had it down to muscle memory almost immediately. I only did that to pass the time quicker. At the end of the second week while setting up and getting ready to do the same I heard a voice ask me where we were going to be going today. I didn't even know tulpa were a thing. So my recommendation is to try for more, I don't know how much time you can spend. But more. Try and make a habit of always keeping them on your mind. Even If you arnt actually talking to them or whatever. It's the thought that counts after all.
For the first two weeks or so I forced almost all day and that worked out pretty well for me, lots of people say that they cant hear their tulpa for a long time and have to learn to listen
What I'm doing, and what I hesitantly recommend, is to keep your tulpa in mind and talk at them while you go about your work and leisure during the beginning stages.

I don't think there's much use in trying to have a conversation with your tulpa when you know that they aren't sentient.

Having a conversation meaning sitting down and talking with them alone, not doing anything else.
When I ask her questions, occasionally I get responses, but I'm waiting until it gets a little better to sit down and really work on our communication.
Awful thats probably normal, im also a beginner and im about 2 months in without any response, but i have heard that progress can be slow and gradual.(edited)
What I have heard is that if you have prior experience in those areas, it is probably likely that your imaginitive (and other) skills, and therefore maybe the skills that help develop a tulpa, will be stronger.(edited)

Correlation has been noted, but not causation.

I personally wouldn't advise changing your personal hobbies to potentially promote tulpa growth. There are plenty of tried and true methods. For example, as many people have said all day, simply narrating while going about your usual business is highly beneficial.
